Caring for your furniture.

Tips.

Oiling.

Despite having already been pre-oiled, as best practice, we would also recommend that you oil the table surface on a six month to yearly basis, depending on its usage. How regularly you re-apply oil to your table will vary based on the humidity & temperature of your room. Take care not to over-oil the table & always test the oil on a small, unseen area before applying a full coat.

Cleaning.

Use a slightly damp cloth to clean as and when needed. Wipe dry. For persistent spots, gently clean with a soft cloth and a solution of water and mild detergent. Wipe dry. Do not use cleaning products containing ammonia, alcohol or petroleum. Avoid furniture polish as it can accumulate over time and leave a residue.

Placement.

Too much heat or water can damage your furniture. Often keeping your pieces in very hot or dry places, such as near radiators or attics can cause the wood to split. Too much water can cause it to expand and distort. Wood can expand and contract with season and humidity changes. Try to maintain consistent humidity levels to reduce movement in the wood.

General.

Avoid dragging sharp or rough objects across the surface of your wood furniture. Use adhesive felt pads, trivets, coasters and placemats to help prevent scratches. Over time, air and sunlight will change the colour of natural wood. Where possible rotate the items placed on your wood furniture to allow a more uniform colour to develop.
